Gifts for the Kids

04 December 2013
I love giving gifts and especially love buying for and giving gifts to my little sister. There's nothing more fun than seeing the joy on the face of a little one when she opens a gift.

Below are goodies for the kiddos on your shopping list. I'm particularly excited about the GoldieBlox game (here), which I am giving to my sister. The company helps girls discover the world of engineering through construction games and offers girls other toy options than the typical pink-and-frilly fare.

You can read more about GoldieBlox here and check out their awesome "Princess Machine" commercial below!

Gifts that give back

27 November 2013
With Christmas right around the corner, I have started - and started crossing off - my shopping lists for friends and family.

I really like the idea of buying a gift someone will love and that donates to charitable causes.

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? Have any great gift ideas that give back?

valentine's day gift guide: thoughtful gifts

08 February 2013
valentine's day is right around the corner and you or your girl might be tired of the traditional red and pink fare and are looking for something a bit more unique.

my advice for gift-giving is to keep the person you're buying for front of mind - what kind of gal is she? think about the her hobbies, her sense of style, her personality. did she live abroad or does she have a favorite travel destination? consider a destination-themed gift or even a trip there. does she want to learn to draw? try a starter art kit, with drawing pencils, paper, and a pretty box to keep them in.

the amount of thought you put into a gift is what will set it apart.

so, who are you buying for this valentine's day?

pink and gold gift ideas

12 December 2012
i have a few Christmas gifts left to buy and maybe it was the pink treats yesterday, but i can't get pretty pink and gold gift ideas out of my head.

i mean, how lovely would it be to see this body scrub in your shower? or to eat dessert on this plate? the combination is so feminine and lovely! i know it's not a traditional holiday color scheme, but you know how i feel about pink.

jet set in style

29 November 2012
as my grandma once told me, "a lady should travel in style," and with holiday travels right around the corner, i have travel accessories on the brain. these chic items would make braving the airports a little more glamorous, don't you think?

holiday gift guide for her

21 November 2012
the internets are abuzz with gift guides, but really, can you have too many? in my case, i have at least 13 women (including 6 sisters-in-law!) i want to buy gifts for this Christmas and i'm always on the hunt for pretty presents.

these gift pairings would go lovely together, but each piece can stand on it's own and i'm sure would make any gal smile.

the short and sweet of it guest post

19 May 2012

i'm so happy to have kirby of The Short and the Sweet of It guest blogging on ANC today! kirby and alexa have amazing taste and their blog is a daily stop for me. thanks for suggesting some great shower gifts, kirby!

Hi everyone! Kirby from The Short and the Sweet of It here! I'm so honored to be guest posting while Ashley is off getting hitched. If you're like me, wedding season has begun and your calendar is packed with wedding showers. While registries are nice as a guide, sometimes it's fun to get your favorite couple something they least expect. Here are a few ideas from a few of my favorite stores.

Anthropologie

Even if your bride-to-be friend isn't registered at Anthropologie, she and her fiancĂ© will love these gorgeous coasters. And who wouldn't want potbelly pig bookends?

Kate Spade

My friends and I adore everything from Kate Spade. I'm guessing the bride in your life will love this "I do" necklace and these "Mrs" earrings.

Jonathan Adler

Sure, people register for coffee mugs. But these Mr. and Mrs. Muse Mugs are unexpected. And this L-O-V-E paperweight is something they will keep for years. Jonathan Adler is full of quirky cool gifts.

valentine's day gift guide

06 February 2012
with valentine's day just over a week away, i thought i'd share a fun gift guide today. i love these pieces because they work not just for someone to buy for their sweetheart, but they would be great gifts for friends and sisters too! i would definitely gift the polishes or iphone cover to a girl friend and i'm loving the rose gold watch for myself!

are you exchanging presents for valentine's or do you steer clear of this holiday?

wedding details reveal: Liquid Courage Flasks

21 December 2011
who's excited for another wedding detail reveal? let's just say i've been on a roll, scouring the interwebs for unique artists and vendors that can help make our wedding extra special.

j and i have been thinking about what gifts to get our wedding party, but couldn't come up with anything truly awesome until i came across liquid courage flasks.

i love the idea of giving a personalized gift and liquid courage was the perfect choice to partner with for the groomsmen gifts! if you like monogramming as much as i do, you'll love their personalized flasks, which come in dozens of designs. here are my fave for the ladies:

but since the flasks are for the boys, i had to concentrate on something a little more manly and settled on these. aren't they hilarious?? i know for a fact at least two of the five groomies have a serious fondness for their facial hair, so i'm pretty sure they're going to get a kick out of these flasks.

each groomsmen is getting a different mustache/beard and his name underneath. i'm giggling just thinking about the boys opening these. they will love them! so, which mustache is your fave?
