i just can't get enough of the alexander mcqueen resort collection. it is so perfectly polished and elegant. i'm loving the tailored trousers, leopard print bag and gilded gowns. simply gorgeous!

this collection is unbelievably breathtaking. the cream-colored gowns are literally walking works of art. wouldn't it be something if kate middleton walked down the aisle in one of these floor-length stunners?

alexander mcqueen tribute

next spring, the costume institute at the metropolitan museum of art in new york will be paying tribute to the late designer with "alexander mcqueen: savage beauty." the show will feature 100 looks dating from his graduate work at central saint martins college of art and design in london to his final collection, presented this year after his death.

rather than a retrospective feel, the exhibit will be organized by theme, focusing on mcqueen's interest in romanticism. the themes include "the savage mind," "romantic gothic," "romantic nationalism," "romantic exoticism," and "romantic primitivism."

francois-henri pinault, chief executive officer of ppr, which owns alexander mcqueen™, and his wife, salma hayek, will serve as honorary chairs of the exhibit launch on may 2, 2011. co-chairs will be colin firth, stella mccartney and anna wintour.

sarah burton named creative director for alexander mcqueen

sarah burton, a 16-year veteran of the alexander mcqueen fashion house, has been named creative director, according to british vogue. burton hastily and expertly finished mcqueen's fall/winter 2010-11 collection following the designer's suicide, just weeks before paris fashion week. that she was chosen as sucessor is not surprising given her 10-year history as head of design for womenswear and her intimate knowledge of late designer's vision.

it saddens me to report that british fashion designer alexander mcqueen was found dead this morning at his home in london. it is suspected to be suicide, but no details have been confirmed.
